NEW DELHI– 19TH  June, – The second virtual fair of Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts concluded successfully here today with visit of  over 1500 overseas buyers, buying agents, wholesalers and retailers generating business enquiries worth Rs. 270 crores said Ravi K. Passi, Chairman of the Council.

Buyers from 80 countries viz Australia, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, USA, UK, Spain, New-zeland, Canada, UAE, Turkey, Japan, Israel, Germany and France participated in this four day virtual fair.

Passi further informed that the organisation of virtual fairs was the only solution during the ongoing pandemic thus enabling the Council provide a viable platform to exporters to do business since the organisation of physical fairs is currently not possible.

R.K. Verma, Executive Director of the Council informed  that participants of Home furnishing, floor coverings and textiles were of the opinion that this virtual platform had provided them the opportunity to survive in the business as the overseas buyers could participate in the  virtual fairs while sitting in the comfort of their homes/offices.

Webinars, craft demonstration and theme setting on trends were highlights of the IHGF-Textiles virtual fair.

Exports of home furnishings, floor coverings and textiles account for 25% of the total exports of handicrafts from the Country which was around Rs. 6200 crores in 2019-20 told R.K. Verma, Executive Director – EPCH.

Ajay Shankar Awards for best display and set up at the virtual fair were also distributed in home furnishing category.Gold award was bagged by  M/s Khatritex, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Silver award went to M/s Swift Corporation Limited, Gurgaon, Haryana, Mrs. Harsimran Kaur, MD and Ms. Keeratdeep Kaur, Director received the award. In FLOOR CATEGORY Gold award was given to M/s Bhadohi Carpet, Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh.

EPCH is an apex organization for promotion of exports of handicrafts in the Country and creating brand image of handcrafted products of home, lifestyle, textiles, fashion and furniture – magic of the gifted hands in the country.
